Floor Levelling

When should I use floor leveler?

A self leveling compound is a concrete type floor underlayment that is applied to subflooring prior to the installation of tile or wood. Using a self leveling compound is easier than other types of subfloor compounds because it will fill in low spots to make sure that a more complete coverage of the floor takes place.

Do I need to prime concrete floor before leveling?

It is recommended that the concrete surface is primed with a primer before applying the leveling compound. This is meant not only to improve adhesion with the leveling compound but also to serve to seal the concrete slab beneath.

What kind of flooring is best for an uneven floor?

For very uneven flooring, laminate sheets or tiles may be a better bet. This material is more flexible, but may reveal the imperfections in the surface. The most durable and attractive option for an uneven floor is often a pour on option, such as epoxy.

How do you hide an uneven floor?

Lay plywood sheeting as a sub-floor layer. This can level the base floor quite efficiently if the problem is not severe and the overall level of the floor is fairly consistent. Use thicker plywood the more uneven the flooring is underneath.
